About Ann-Marie Eriksson

I work as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Education, Communication and Learning.I have held leadership positions as Director of the university-wide Unit for Academic Language (ASK) (2015–2021), and as Deputy Head of Department for Education and Education Coordinator at the department (2022–2025).

Research interests My research interests concern processes of learning in institutionalized environments and especially textually mediated forms of knowledge production in higher education. My research includes studies of supervision, tuition and academic writing as situated processes of knowing. Such processes are characterized by situations and prolonged events where people encounter and need to deal with knowledge that is new to them. I take a particular interest in what challenges text production involves for the social and discursive formation of disciplinary knowing and for perspective-taking in interdisciplinary settings. These interests are theoretically grounded in sociocultural traditions of learning and development, and in dialogical theories of human communication and sense-making. I aman active member of the research theme Learning, Education and Digitalisation (LEaD).

Teaching interests: My teaching interests primarily concern the digitalization of higher education, academic writing, and supervision. I teach and supervise in the international Master's program IT and Learning and am course coordinator for, among other things, a methodology course at the advanced level within the field of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. I have previously taught technical communication and academic writing at various levels within engineering education, as well as Swedish and English at upper secondary school and in adult education.
