
Swedish as a Second Language:Introductory Course
About
SSA111 is the introductory course to studies of Swedish as a Second Language, and treats the subjects of multilingualism and second language acquisition. The course in its total gives 30 credits, but is divided into four modules, where each module could be studied separately. The first module focuses on migration and multilingualism as a societal and individual phenomenon. The module also gives an orientation about Swedish as a second language as a subject within the Swedish school system. The second module focuses on the grammatical structure of the Swedish language, including syntax, phonetics and lexicon. The third module focuses on theories of second language acquisition and development, as well as different models of assessing learner language. Finally, the fourth model focuses on literacy in relation to second language learning, highlighting basic literacy in a multimodal society. The course language is Swedish.
