Professor Barend ter Haar from the University of Hamburg will talk about his current research on early conceptions of the soul and how the hun-soul evolved from the Western Han (206 BCE-9 CE) into something quite different from before. He will not only look at Han dynasty philosophical sources, but will take a broader perspective and discuss also similar beliefs about souls from modern and contemporary periods.
