About Daniel Ståhl

Background

I am a social worker and licensed healthcare counselor. I have a master's degree in social work. As a professional, I have my background in health care where I have met many people with various neurological diseases and various forms of impairment. Many people with neurological disease experience difficulties related to both their impairment and the design of society. These difficulties can be included under the concept of disability. My clinical experience of these encounters has shaped my interest in researching and hopefully contributing to the prevention of disability.

Thesis project

The forthcoming thesis is about disability experienced by persons living with multiple sclerosis (MS), which is one of the most common neurological diseases in Sweden. MS is a disease that can affect the person with a large number of different symptoms and impairment. The majority of persons that are diagnosed with MS are between 20-40 years old. The disease is chronic and currently there are only treatments that slow down the course of the disease. Thus, MS is a disease that exists in a varied part of the population.
